Fire Up! Your Employees

Overview and Critical Thinking

Attract, Hire and Retain Top Talent in
an Intellectual Workplace

Our employees are our greatest asset – more now than ever. In today’s thinking economy, our employees own our organization’s intellectual capital; what they know and what they do with what they know is the key to performance and success. With a complicated set of issues and supply challenges facing all businesses, attracting, hiring, and retaining high performing employees is one of the greatest challenges of any size organization.

In extraordinary organizations, employees are excited and energized, their brains sparking with ideas, inventing solutions, and actively contributing. They connect with their jobs; they connect with their managers. These connections constantly fan their sparks into an all-out fire of passionate performance. Employees actively contribute in ways that use their talents and strengths.
Employees voice their opinions, solve problems, and invent opportunities. Employees think and act like owners because they are engaged, passionate, and fired up about what they do.

In average organizations, we occasionally see the sparks of employee performance; a little extra effort here, a little more creativity there. We see only random sparks, not hot enough to start any fire of performance; they are unable to significantly impact results. How an organization activates their employees’ passion for performance determines whether the organization will be extraordinary or average.

Welcome to Humanetrics LLC’s Fire Up! ProcessSM – a process to help organizations learn how to INVITE, INCITE, and IGNITE extraordinary employee performance. The key to performance success is in learning a new way to manage – I’ll call it “millennial management.” This form of management is based on connection – connecting employees intellectually to their jobs (the right employee is hired for the right job) and connecting employees emotionally with their managers (because employee performance and loyalty is now based on the quality of relationships). This form of management requires a clear understanding of today’s employees and what they need from their management to activate their performance. Gone are the industrial days of widespread manufacturing; much of manufacturing has moved offshore. We are now in an intellectual or service economy. Employees are now compensated and valued for their thinking, innovation, and responsiveness. Demanding and dictating performance is no longer effective; command-and-control has given way to engage-and-inspire. This resource will introduce a new and powerful process to help managers learn how to shift out of industrial age management thinking and into a sound intellectual-age approach. The full theory of this change and the details of the process are published in the full text, Fire Up Your Employees and Smoke Your Competition.

The Humanetrics Fire Up! ProcessSM has the following three guiding principles:

  1. Invite Performance: Organizations must invite the best employees by creating a powerful employee-focused workplace culture and brand and by committing to a hiring process that focuses on employee talents and a good fit in each role. This connects employees intellectually to their roles.
  2. Incite Performance: Organizations activate the performance power in employees by customizing their roles around their talents, interests, and values and by creating employee performance expectations that define expectations but leaves the performance process up to the employee. This connects employees emotionally to their roles.
  3. Ignite Performance: Organizations ignite employee’s passionate commitment by providing recurring performance feedback in the way of coaching, education and mentoring, and a recurring career conversation about short- and long-term development. This connects employees emotionally to their management.

Connect your employees intellectually to their roles and emotionally to both you and their team. This is the way to invite, incite, and ignite performance. And when you do, your employees will help you smoke your competition.
